Glad you're home, Eman--you're right: hospitals are not the best place to recuperate. In fact, they suck. Sorry you can't

move about too much, but at least it's your bed and your bedroom. (I'd send you a fruit basket, but it wouldn't travel well.)

The world going to hell even faster than

usual, I'll just relate a few, oh, light vignettes:

Have returned to south Florida in time for the peak of hurricane season, having survived the wilds of northwestern New

Mexico. (And prevented our orange-haired, 16 year-old daughter from adopting a wolf-dog, which is just what it sounds like. :) Though the wolf-dog would have been

preferable to her most recent boyfriend, who last left us via transport I provided for him in the back of a police car.)

The volcano adjacent to our New Mexico

property remains dormant: http://www.icecaves.com/drcband1.jpg
The local tourism bureau says it last erupted 10,000 years ago. They are lying. It was 1,000 years

ago. It's the youngest volcanic field on the North American continent and home to 29 volcanos, amidst which our property nestles. (And though we haven't met him, I

understand that an Egyptian poet lives nearby part of the year. Apparently he's as crazy as we.) We bought the place from a noted French archaelogist who is a member of

the French Legion of Honor. (Would we had been allowed to forget that during negotiations. :) )

School starts here next week. I teach "emotionally challenged" high

schoolers, most of whom have lengthy criminal records. My unarmed combat refresher training course will be next Thursday. (Really.) And have renewed my $2 million

personal teacher liability insurance. So, looking forward to another challenging year providing for the future of America. :) In fact, if you've ever seen the old Stanley

Kubrick movie, "A Clockwork Orange," you've met my students. (The profile of the U.S. Army guy accused of raping that Iraqi girl and slaughtering her family perfectly fits

the profile of many of my students. The military has obviously lowered psychological and skills requirements to make it's enlistment quota. They know very well what sort of

psychos they're taking in. Thank you, Mr. Bush, for making us a pariah among nations.)

My young Israeli correspondent has done quite well from the current misery,

reporting from Haifa via her hiighly-acclaimed blog. She was on FOX, CNN, MSNBC, Timesonline and featured in various Canadian and German news reports. In fact, I now

just get general broadcast emails from her, announcing her latest interview venues. That she is articulate and very photogenic has not hurt. Can a publicist, multiple job

offers and a book contract be far behind? (No, I am not at all cynical.)

And if you'd like a wolf-dog to bring joy into your home (rather than into mine :) )

http://www.inetdesign.com/candykitchen/tour.html

As we've noted before, there is, of course, no such thing as global warming, which is why the climate here is now

suddenly much less subtropical and more tropical: I feel as though we live in an Indonesian rain forest. The flora has taken over. (The giant bamboo is joyously shooting up

toward the clouds.) And this a.m. at least three tropical waves are headed from your continent toward ours.

I go now to cut the grass before my neighbors do, and

send me a bill for their trouble. ("Grass Is The Enemy!")

Hope each day that you're feeling better. Please don't blog unless you really feel up to it.

Cheers
