Problem With Arabs

Filed under: Arab Societies — Eman at 1:24 pm on Friday, December 19, 2008

I’d love to share with you a beautifully written Arabic article titled:”This is my problem with Arabs“, by my friend and old colleague Hussein, in which he compares the Arab and Western societies in terms of academic progress, and explains how the lack of enthusiasm, passion and creativity in our part of the world continues to lead to the failure of any efforts provided.

Nicely written, with a lot of humor here and there, and many great references, this article is really worth reading.

And I truly hope Arabs would learn how to be more passionate about what they do…

your friend is clearly a shallow person. had he enjoyed an IQ of 95 or above, he would have realized that no one can generalize 300 million Arabs from 10 workshops he attended. So his analysis is shallow and not worth reading beyond the dumb title. i have worked with arab and non-arabs and I cannot tell who is more enthusiastic than the others. note to self: delete any stupid post that starts with “problem with Arabs” since writer is a problem himself.

stupid article by a stupid arab. your friend needs to write an article about how stupid he is. maybe he is a racist who feels only white non-Arabs can do a good job, and as soon as an Arab tries to do the same job, your stupid friend acts in a manner that turns them off and makes them lose interest. sick arabs are everywhere and this article proves it. your friend is one of them. tell your friend to go to canada or USA and to spare us his stupidity.

yalla let us keep kissing the White’s man hands ,for how long can we keep fooling ourselves, your friend that wrote the article has inferiority complex ,he fantasised that whit man is going to be our saviors, this one of the worst i read so far , it is an out right example of eastern orientalism ,what make me sad it’s the some of us believe that white man is described and viewed as “civilised” and “advanced” and want to help “willingly”,that off course if you check out their salaries and how much money they received you will be shocked .
Long live Arab and Islamic civilisation!

Why are so afraid to post my comment ?,to be a blogger you have to except the “negative” comment and or shall we say, more allied with your way of thinking.

Nizar,Za3tar and Hind, thanks for taking the time to check it out.

Jamal and Sam, with all my respect to both of you, but obviously you haven’t really understood a word my friend wrote, not to mention that you didn’t really bother to take a look at his blog, because if you did, you’d actually realize that he started blogging just because he believes that we, Arabs, have great potential, and many of us can make a change, but many others need some encouragement.

Racist? I’m really stunned! just because someone tries to give some positive criticism in an attempt to improve our part of the world you call him racist?
did you even read the part where he actually said that this was his OWN OPINION, and that he’s trying to address a very important issue, not just go negative for the heck of it!
Did you read other posts of his where he talks about the achievements of Arabs, guess not, typical behavior of a shallow reader! you don’t take the time to think, read carefully or understand what others want to say, coz it’s a lot easier to attack!

And by the way, a “sick Arab” is the one who’s afraid to face reality! not the one who’s sharing his opinion with the whole world, opening door to conversation and thinking.
So you 2, unless you’re willing to add to this conversation to make it a fruitful one, and unless you’re willing to respect other people and not offend them with your language, then you’re not welcome on my blog.

Elmashkalgy, lol, I really don’t get it you know! did you read my damn blog lately? or are you just picking what you want and attacking carelessly!
I was having PROBLEMS WITH MY COMMENTS, tried to fix that, some showed and some didn’t and only today was I able to completely fix it, and only today was I able to approve the last 5 comments on this post. It’s nothing personal, and I am not afraid to post your comments.

It just strikes me as ODD, that someone as well-informed as you, and someone who’s writing on the blogosphere to expose many hidden facts, is accusing a fellow blogger of having a complex, although he’s just trying to do the very same as you but in a different way.

As long as we don’t give each other the freedom to express our opinions, and as long as we don’t respect each others point of views, and as long as we are not willing to discuss and talk together in a civilized way, WE WILL NEVER BECOME BETTER!

I’m sure if you sat down with Hussein 5 minutes only, you would’ve never ever wrote what you’ve written.
I’m not saying we should all agree to what others say, but we could at least give each other some freedom and respect, and work hand in hand to improve ourselves and solve any problems we have… and we have hundreds of these!

Dear Elmashkalgy,
I just want you to know that I really understand why you’re reacting this way, I’m not here to fight you or be against you, I’m angry coz: 1. you thought I was deleting or avoiding your comments, when I was having a stupid problem with my commenting section, and 2. coz you’re accusing me of being racist by thinking that Hussein’s article was racist, and believe me my friend, if you ask any blogger about me and my writings, one thing you’ll know for sure, and it’s me being so against racism, and how proud I am for being an Arab.
And 3, coz you are judging Hussein based on one single post he wrote, in which he clearly stated how we don’t lack intellect nor talent, but that generally speaking -with the exception of a small amount of us- Arabs fail to use their talent correctly coz they lack enthusiasm and passion, again generally speaking.

In fact, when I took a look at your blog, you reminded me of him right away, only you 2 have different styles.
In Hussein’s defense, you would never have a طوشة with him, he’s so open-minded, very religious, a great husband and a loving father of 2 adorable daughters, and he HATES fighting, and will listen to you no matter what you’re saying. And you, although you sound a bit “mashkalgy” :) but I know you’re as open-minded and tolerant as he is.
And as they say, al i5tilaf birra2y, la yofsedo lilwoddi qadeyya.

I just wished you would read the welcoming message on his blog, or browse his blog a bit to see that the last thing he wants is to underestimate or disrespect our religion or culture, it’s exactly the opposite. In fact, Hussein have been known for his love for the Arab region, and he never missed an occasion in which he could participate positively. He’s a very hard worker who started his own way from 0 without any help or support whatsoever.

I just wish you could see that too, if you can’t, then it’s fine, you’re entitled to have your own opinion no matter what it was as long as it doesn’t show disrespect. So, thanks for sharing your opinion here.

Good to know both our moms survived after all… and hope your life will go smoothly and without problems inshallah.
