Calling For Immediate Strict Actions Towards Islamophobia & Anti-Muslim Violence

I really don’t know where to start, this horrible crime, this inhumane racist crime, has moved me in a way I really can’t describe.

I’m talking about the tragic death of Marwa Al-Sherbini, 32-year old Pharmacist, the Muslim, the Arab, who was stabbed (18 times) to death by a 28-year German racist, in a courtroom in the eastern city of Dresden on Wednesday, after being harassed and threatened and accused of being a terrorist by him in a park she used to go to with her little son. Her husband got 3 stabs from the criminal as well, as he rushed to rescue her, and got a gunshot by a police officer who thought he was the criminal… I’m a bit confused, I mean 18 stabs for her, 3 stabs and a gunshot for her husband inside a courtroom? where were security in the first place? how could this happen inside the court? (more in Arabic)

Besides the fact that her death was really tragic and brutal, I find the way this crime is being handled (or covered if I may say) to be really unfair and biased. I mean if it were a non-Muslim, or a non-Arab victim, killed by an Arab or a Muslim, I think the whole story would’ve been dealt with very differently and we’d be suffering all kinds of prices that we’d have to pay for the crime. But then again, it’s just an Arab, a Muslim, we’re expected to get angry for a while and then forget all about it, right?

I know that Germans must not all be labeled as racists or criminals (we know how this feels), and I’m not implying that just because one German has committed such a horrible crime so that means all Germans are racists and hate Muslims; and I’m sure that justice will surely find its way, but isn’t it about time to admit having an Islamophobia problem around the world? isn’t it about time countries start addressing racism towards Arabs and finally act?

I believe all Arabs and Muslims must call for:

  • The harshest verdict to the criminal;
  • Strict consequences for any anti-Muslim/Arab statements or actions; Muslim harassment must be considered a serious issue that must be punished.

And isn’t it time for us (Arabs & Muslims) to UNDERSTAND how worthless our people’s blood have become in the eyes of other nations!!!!

Harsh consequences are certainly warranted for violence, but can you come up with a sound definition–not merely an example, mind you, as laws are not written using examples–of an “anti-Muslim/Arab statement?” How will you distinguish such statements from legitimate criticisms of Muslims or Arabs and is comparable anti-Western, anti-secular, or anti-Christian speech criminalized in the Muslim world?

You (Arab/Muslim) reap what you sow. Subscribe to a religion of hatred and you will be hated. What don’t you understand?

American Patriot,
you know what, I think you don’t know the first thing about us or our religion.
Our religion is not about hatred, its core message is spreading peace. Now if some crazy people do crazy stuff in the name of our religion that doesn’t mean they should be regarded as representatives of our religion.

If some Christians, Jews, Buddhists or Hindus commit crimes in the name of their religion, should I blindly believe that their religion asks for such things?
I personally believe that no religion asks for spreading war or crime, they’re all about love, peace and justice on Earth, and that’s why we, Muslims, believe in and respect other religions as well.

Thanks for your comment anyway.
