BAD09: enough lecturing, here are the REAL SOLUTIONS!
So this year’s topic for Blog Action Day is CLIMATE CHANGE. And I think that if you’re an adult and still need someone to explain this issue to you, then we -the whole world- are in big trouble. That’s why I’ll skip the lectures, explaining, and preaching and will simply BEG YOU ALL reading this blog to finally take action; save what’s left to be saved, put an end to the environment’s suffering, and try to fix what we’ve already screwed.
I personally believe that the answer to all our environmental problems can be simply listed as follows:
- Compulsory environmental education in all educational systems and facilities on all levels, starting from KG1. This way we’ll have environment-friendly generations, who will be fully aware of the consequences of every single action they take on the face of this planet, and who will be responsible consumers and mature individuals in terms of participation in environmental activities.
- Recycling should not be a choice, or an extra thing you can do, it must be promoted as a responsibility of every citizen anywhere in this world, and governments must work hand in hand with environmental organizations and recycling entities to spread awareness, provide enough recycling containers, and collect recyclables’ even from places that have no access to recycling services.
- Political madness should stop, politicians must stop war and never support it in any way, because supporting war means supporting environmental crimes. Sustaining the environment must be one of the responsibilities of any leader/politician.
- Environment-friendly products and services must be less expensive than their current prices, if we want as much people as possible to be part of this whole process that is. Because I’m telling you, prices of stuff like that is simply MAD!
- More environmental awareness campaigns should take place as an effort to remind people everywhere and every time, of their responsibility in saving the planet and healing its wound.
Here are some of my favorite websites relating to the climate change issue: Arab Environment Watch, Kids VS. Global Warming, Climate Change 101, Mother Nature Network, especially their article titled: The 15 best carbon calculators.
